Welcome to Tongarra Family Practice. Established by 2009, Tongarra Family Practice has been providing outstanding healthcare to the Shellharbour, Kiama and southern Wollongong regions for over 20 years. Committed to the personal and ongoing health of the local community, this experienced team of doctors, nurses and medical professionals was most recently applauded in the 2012 General Practice of the Year Awards.

We are a Medicare Bulk Billing Practice!

High quality, affordable community healthcare for all patients

Tongarra Family Practice offers 100% Bulk Billed GP consultations for ALL patients with a valid Medicare card.

What's Changing?

Previously, Tongarra Family Practice only offered bulk billing for some patients, such as children under 16 years, pensioners and concession card holders.

Medicare incentives have recently increased, so as from Monday 14th September 2026 we can now bulk bill all eligible GP services.

As a Medicare bulk-billing practice, we make everyday healthcare more accessible and affordable for you and your family.

Procedures & Gap Fees

Some procedures may incur a small fee. We aim to keep out-of-pocket costs as low as possible for all patients. Common procedures that incur a gap fee include:

  • Skin Excisions

Note: If an out-of-pocket fee applies, you will be informed prior to the procedure.

Non-Medicare Card Holders

Patients who do not hold a valid Medicare card are required to pay the full fee for all GP consultations and are not eligible for a Medicare rebate.

The full consultation fee must be paid on the day of your appointment.
